Blog by Connor Thomas

I have now been vegan for just over 2 months after being vegetarian for a year and a half before that.

Some of the questions I get on a frequent basis are:

Are you crazy? Yes
Do you miss eating meat? No
Would you ever eat meat again? No, unless I was stranded in the middle of nowhere without any access to food or water.

Do you feel hungry? No, I still eat lots of food.
Don’t you find it hard to eat out? No, there are always alternatives, and if anything it helps me save money by cooking my meals and knowing what I eat.
Won’t you be deficient in your micro nutrients? No, if you are consistent with a healthy vegan diet and know what you’re eating contains these vitamins and nutrients that we apparently “lack” in our diet, you should be fine. Furthermore since I have been vegan I do pay more attention to how I am feeling on a day to day basis with regards to energy and overall health and so far 0 complaints! I also had blood work done this week and everything is showing perfect across the board.

The biggest question yet ..

Why are you vegan?

I am a huge animal lover, and I can not stand how much cruelty goes on to animals for them to be used as a source of food. I have watched many videos, and documentaries showing how corrupt the food industry is when it comes to the cruelty of animals to feed others, it’s heartbreaking. Furthermore, heart disease is something that runs in my family, and science shows that a plant based diet will reduce the risk of heart disease and Type 2 Diabetes. Other studies have shown that it will reduce cholesterol levels, regulate blood pressure, and reduce the amount of saturated fats you will intake into your diet, all of which can lead directly to poor health. Lastly, I feel much better, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. I am so happy that I am able to live a healthy and happy lifestyle knowing that I am not contributing to animal cruelty.

Now before people start to think that I am an extreme vegan (which I am), I have 0 issues with people who eat meat as most of my friends still eat meat and a lot of my family. All I ask is that we end the ignorance towards vegans, and before saying “I CAN’T live without meat”, challenge yourself for ONE week on a plant based diet.

I ate meat for 18 years of my life, I can not judge those who eat meat I can only educate others as to why I no longer do.

To end this I’d like to thank PROFI for supporting my vegan journey with the best vegan protein on the market. More and more supplement companies are coming out with vegan options and protein powders, and I guarantee you won’t find a cleaner, better tasting protein than PROFI.
